Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

About the Program

The fellowship is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council of General Medical Education (ACGME). Upon its completion, the fellow is qualified to take the Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ)

Examinations in Geriatrics, which is given by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Family Medicine. The geriatric residency program seeks to train family medicine and/or internal medicine physicians in all facets of clinical geriatrics over a period of 12 months. Both medical and non-medical aspects of elder care will be emphasized, including institutional, non-institutional, regulatory, economic, psycho-social, pharmacologic, rehabilitation, palliative and other associated areas. Learning will be patient-based in a variety of settings, stressing the multi-disciplinary team approach to the comprehensive care of the frail, elderly population, as well as didactic, scholarly and instructional activities.

Ariel Cole MD, FAAFP
